Welcome to our site!
Our group is carrying out research related with the biodiversity and the ecological aspects of fish parasites from Brazil. Also, we are researching the zoonotic potential of some parasites in Brazilian fishes and about parasite species with impact on pisciculture activities.
Currently, we are developing several projects aimed the study of the biodiversity of fish parasites of some Brazilian river basins (Guandu River, Araguaia River, Mogi-Guaçu River, Xingú River and Pantanal Wetland). These projects including collection expeditions to these localities and a large volume of taxonomic work relating to all taxonomic groups of parasites of freshwater fishes.
The study of biodiversity of marine fish parasites from the coastal zone of the State of Rio de Janeiro is also one of the main research projects using different quantitative approaches to study composition and structure of the parasite communities .
Follow the links above to find out more about us and our current research projects, or to download recent publications and datasets.
